The Mantellassi family worked as pruners and root-stock grafters in Tuscany before planting their first seven acres of vines. Their vineyards are planted primarily with Sangiovese grapes and cover the rolling hills of Scansano in volcanic calcareous soil. In 1978, the prestigious quality of Fattoria Mantellassi played a key role in obtaining DOCG appellation status for their Morellino di Scansano wines. Today, the family manages 120 acres and produces award-winning wines that are in high demand around the world.
